This website and the Smart Step apps are operated by Smart Step Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit recovery housing operator, EIN 33-1822772. By using the site you are agreeing to what is described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the site — you can still reach us at {{MAILING ADDRESS}}.

Submitting an application, or being referred by an organization, starts a conversation. It does not reserve a bed and it is not an agreement. Placement depends on availability, on fit with the house, and on the program requirements described to you before move-in. Any occupancy agreement is a separate document you sign in person.

Housing decisions follow fair-housing law. If you believe a decision was made unfairly, write to {{COMPLAINTS CONTACT EMAIL}}.

If you submit information about another person, you are confirming that you hold a signed, dated release from that person authorizing you to share it with Smart Step, and that you can produce it on request. We record that confirmation with your referral. Do not send us another person's information without it.

Residents, staff and court coordinators sign in to their own account. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, use the account only for what your role covers, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it. We may suspend an account that is being misused or that puts resident information at risk.

Smart Step Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Donations are processed by our payment provider on their own secure checkout page. A donation is a gift, and it is not a payment for housing, placement priority, or any service.

How we handle what you send us is described in our privacy policy, and records about a person's recovery are covered by the confidentiality notice.

The text, images, logos and materials on this site belong to Smart Step Inc. or to the people we licensed them from. You are welcome to link to any page, and to print or share pages for personal or non-commercial use. Anything beyond that needs our written permission — write to {{GENERAL EMAIL ADDRESS}}.

Some pages link to organizations we do not run — crisis lines, public agencies, community resources — and checkout is handled on our payment provider's own site. Those services have their own terms and their own privacy practices, and we do not control what they do.

We work to keep this site accurate and available, but it is provided as it is. Pages can be out of date, and the site can be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. Do not rely on this site for anything time-critical — call us instead at {{PHONE NUMBER}}.
